Tupiza Station
Tupiza is one of the most spectacular stops on the corridor: a town ringed by reddish canyons and ranges that have earned it the nickname “the Land of Movie Landscapes”. It is a shared station, with stops by the Expreso del Sur and the Wara Wara del Sur.
At 2,950 m, with a warmer climate than the Altiplano, Tupiza is a base for horseback and 4×4 trips through the Quebrada de Palala, the Cañón del Inca and the Valle de los Machos. It is also famous as the setting for the last days of the outlaws Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Arriving by train at dawn, with the hills tinged red, is an unforgettable sight.
