Challapata Station
Challapata is one of the busiest trading and livestock centres in the south of Oruro department, known for its market, the Tacagua dam and its quinoa and broad-bean fields.
It was a stop of the Wara Wara del Sur, the train that called at every station on the corridor, but that service has been suspended since 2021 and no return has been announced. There is no passenger train at Challapata today: the Expreso del Sur – Ferrobús, the only train running since June 2025, stops only at Oruro, Uyuni, Atocha, Tupiza and Villazón. The nearest station with a train is Oruro.
