Machacamarca is one of the first stops of the Wara Wara del Sur after leaving Oruro southbound. The town has a strong railway identity: an important workshop of the old network operated here, and today it is home to the Machacamarca Railway Museum, with historic locomotives and carriages.
The station is served only by the Wara Wara del Sur, the train that stops at every station on the corridor. It is a brief stop, meant for passengers from the northern Altiplano communities. The Expreso del Sur does not stop here.
