Uyuni Station

Uyuni is, without doubt, the most important station on the corridor and the one travellers seek out most: it is the gateway to the Salar de Uyuni, the largest salt flat in the world. Both trains stop here — the Expreso del Sur and the Wara Wara del Sur.

From Uyuni, tours set out to the salt flat, to Incahuasi Island, to the coloured lagoons and to the famous Train Cemetery on the edge of town. The station is a railway and tourist hub of the first order, with hotels, agencies and restaurants a few minutes’ walk away. Arriving in Uyuni by train is one of the most authentic experiences of the southern Bolivian journey.
